The Resource List has a little arrow at the right. Click the arrow or anywhere in the top panel to open your filters. This is how you show only the resources that you want to see.

Note that there is a Scheduled filter, and it is probably set to Unscheduled. This means that when you schedule a resource, it's removed from the list. You can confirm this by dragging a resource to the job grid. It will disappear from the Resource List. Drag the allocation to the trash, and the resource will reappear.

If you want to see both Scheduled and Unscheduled resources in the Resource List, set the filter to All and click Apply.

Most screens in ControlBoard have a similar filter list, and they all work the same way. If you're not seeing something you expect to see, the filters are the first place to look.

You know what a job is, it's just a project you're working on. A resource is anything you can assign to a job -- labor, equipment, material, subcontractors, or crews.

An allocation is just the interaction of a job and a resource. It's an assignment of a resource to a job for a certain period of time.

The schedule screens in ControlBoard are all designed to do one thing: allocate resources. On the job schedule, you can drag resources to jobs. On the resource schedule, you can drag jobs to resources. On the crew schedule, you can drag jobs to crews, thus scheduling every resource in that crew at once. In every case you're doing the same thing -- allocating resources.

For example, open the Job Schedule (Schedule > JobSchedule from the menu at the top left). You'll see a list of resources in the left-hand column and a grid of jobs to its right. Each column in the grid represents a day. Drag a resource from the left to any cell in the grid. You've just allocated a resource. Drag the resource to a different job, or a different day. Click several resources on the left and drag them to the grid all at once. Remove an allocation by dragging it to the trash can at the top left.

Congratulations! You now know how to schedule in ControlBoard.

We were asked to do this so folks could share a time off calendar wiith their company. We're excited to hear about what other uses you might come up with.

Aside from specifying the job and the calendar in the ControlBoard® admin, you have to share your calendar with the following email address:

controlboard-calendarbot@api-project-630491316919.iam.gserviceaccount.com

In the admin page you need to specify the calendar id and the job who's allocations you want to post there.

Text messaging has been vastly enhanced. A complete message history is now available at View > Text Messages. Notifications are specific to each user, so you see what you haven't personally read, even if others have. Party information is displayed for each message, when available. And texting now provides an additional Resources tab, where you can send general messages to your employees, or even to parties outside the organization, whether they're scheduled or not.

The front page now includes a job calendar. The moment you open ControlBoard®, your month's schedule is there at a glance.

Daily metrics are now available on all of the schedule screens. Simply open the filters, choose your preferred metrics under Interval Metrics, and apply. Now you can see a summary of utilization, scheduled count, and much more, day by day.

The lists on the left of the schedule screens have been simplified. At the top they are divided into categories — labor, equipment, plan, crew, etc. — for quicker and easier navigation.

The scheduled filter has been enhanced to include filtering for conflicts as well.

Jobs now track contract value as well as total cost. Either or both can be imported from your accounting or estimating software.

Import messages (Admin > Import) now tell you exactly which items have been added or updated, in addition to the summary.

Your company's performance is now easily accessible, in summary or in detail, with comprehensive metrics reports (View > Metrics). Look at scheduled and available resources, or utilization percentages. View summaries, or detailed breakdowns, or both, by job, resource type, and many others. View any time range, past or future, by day, by week, or by month. Now you don't have to guess how you're doing. You'll know.

A new field report (Reports > Jobs Board Report) displays the resources assigned and available employees for each job by day, providing an excellent overview for your field personnel.

You've probably already noticed the yellow triangle icons, denoting that a job or resource has ended or is about to end. It has been enhanced to display if an employee's licenses or union memberships are expiring. Rolling over the icon displays the details.

The job timeline (Plan > Job Timeline) now optionally displays job activities. Open the filters and check or uncheck Show Job Activities to turn it on or off.

Time entries can now track subcontractor and equipment time, and resource quantities and ticket numbers can be attached to an entry, to model picking up material or other resources from one or multiple suppliers.

The new support site is where you can find answers to your questions, watch demonstration videos, post bug reports and feature requests, and talk to ControlBoard® developers directly. Choose Help from the main menu will take you there.

I will demonstrate how to allocate resources to different crews, adjust labor hours, and resolve conflicts using the conflict resolver icon.
